Have you heard of an elimination diet?

Are you wondering, what it is and if you should try it?

What is an Elimination Diet?

Elimination diets exclude certain foods for a period of time. Then with the help of your Registered Dietitian, you can slowly reintroduce specific foods and monitor your symptoms for possible reactions.

When do we use an Elimination Diet?

Elimination diets are most often used to identify food sensitivities and intolerances that cause an array of negative symptoms such as ADD/ADHD, bloating, gas, brain fog, depression, diarrhea, fatigue, headaches, obesity, cravings, pain, rashes, stomach aches, constipation, and many more…

Our gastrointestinal tract does more than just digest and absorb food

The GI TRACT has its own independently working nervous system and is the home of neurotransmitters, hormones, chemical messengers, enzymes, and bacteria.

Food sensitivities may also directly or indirectly contribute to other digestive issues: microbial imbalances (more bad bacteria than good), motility issues (constipation), detoxification abnormalities (toxins in the body and blood), and intestinal permeability (leaky gut).

Problems in the gut can show up throughout the body—in the form of migraines, chronic pain, eczema, brain fog, fatigue, constipation, cravings, diarrhea, depression, bloating/gas, joint pain–to name a few!

If you are suffering from any of the above concerns, your root cause may very well be food sensitivities. Following an elimination diet for a few weeks, under the guidance of a Registered Dietitian, could be the most profound dietary change you will ever make!
